Research suggests that psilocybin therapy may be helpful for some individuals with depression and anxiety and may also support some individuals in processing trauma and difficult life experiences.
Many individuals who explore psilocybin therapy have already tried multiple medications or therapies and continue to feel stuck. This approach may offer a different path forward.

Some individuals report seeing colors or patterns, feeling more connected, having realizations, and increased processing of past experiences. People can also feel anxiety or sadness during the experience. Experiences can vary, but even challenging experiences can be meaningful and lead to lasting positive change.
60-minute appointment with Dr. Ari Aal, DO, to ensure safety and suitability for the program.
Weeks 1–2
Two 60-minute preparation therapy sessions with your therapist.
Week 2, Friday
Approximately 6-hour guided psilocybin therapy session. You will take a psilocybin pill at the beginning of the session. If you do not feel effects within 90 minutes, you may have the option to take a second dose. Your therapist will be present with you throughout the entire session.
Week 3-4
Two 60-minute integration therapy sessions following the experience with your therapist to process and build on your experience.

On the day of the psilocybin session, you will meet with your therapist at our Boulder office. Your therapist will be present with you throughout the entire experience.
You’ll arrive at our office on a Friday morning and settle into a comfortable, calming environment designed for your session.
You will take a psilocybin pill at the beginning of the session. If you do not feel effects within 90 minutes, you may have the option to take a second dose.
The session lasts approximately 6 hours. Experiences can include seeing colors or patterns, feeling more connected, having realizations, and processing past experiences. Your therapist remains with you throughout.
After the experience, you’ll have time to ground yourself before leaving. Integration sessions in the following weeks help you process and build on the experience.
As this is considered a natural medicine service, it is not covered by insurance.
The total cost includes all required appointments in the program.

Both Dr. Aal and the therapist have discretion over whether psilocybin is appropriate for each patient and can decide not to go ahead with treatment if they think it may be psychologically harmful.
